Water brought to life

Stuttgart, January 2016. A wide, transparent stream of water gently gushes from a strictly geometric, futuristic architecture – as if from a fresh spring: that is the nature of the HANSAMURANO X. The award-winning premium fitting brings together urban design and an innovative interface with the natural tranquility of gently flowing water and puts these two aspects in the limelight in an unmistakable manner.

The men behind the idea are the renowned designer Bruno Sacco, former chief designer at Mercedes Benz, and Reinhard Zetsche (Octopus Design), both of whom already worked on the iconic HANSAMURANO in 2003. HANSAMURANO X follows in the tradition of its precursor, but independently and intelligently interprets form and function.

Completely sensory-operated, it brings together water, completely contactless high-tech sensor technology and lighting moods in an architecturally clearly defined visual appearance. In doing so, HANSAMURANO X combines the perfectionism of modern technology with the sensuality of the primordial element. As the architecture shapes and cultivates the open water, so the water brings life and makes a difference to the surrounding architecture. This intelligent interplay between the different elements is the creative guiding principle of the fitting.

The conceptual and creative quality has also been confirmed by the jury of the German Design Council, who presented the fitting from the HANSA|EDITION premium series with the German Design Award 2016.

Glass and chrome in an elegant interplay
HANSAMURANO X presents a harmonious interplay between the materials. The unusual combination of chrome, glass and water gives the fitting its characteristic visual appearance. The central element of the exceptional design concept is the rectangular body made of chrome and glass, which appears to be floating from the user’s perspective and which serves as both the control and the water outlet. A glass plate, from the transparency of which the water precisely gushes into the washbasin in a wide, wonderfully supple, and at the same transparent laminar flow, is framed between the chromed upper part and the basin. This is realized by means of a special stream former.

High-tech: sensory operation and proximity sensor
The HANSAMURANO X is turned on and off sensorily by means of an infrared sensor inside the glass body. The temperature can be individually pre-set via two sensor fields in the control element. An LED strip light provides the user with visual confirmation of his/her adjustment.

In addition, the HANSAMURANO X is equipped with an intelligent lighting/proximity function, which works in two steps: if the user approaches the fitting, the light of the LED displays will be activated and the glass plate will gently illuminate. If the user’s hands are then close enough to the infrared sensor, brighter light will illuminate the water curtain for as long as the water is flowing. The HANSAMURANO X thus provides intelligent comfort, ensures a pure experience and offers the luxury of futuristic simplicity. In the process, the usage of the architecturally minimalistic fitting remains remarkably low: just nine liters per minute.
